Tribal Advocacy Senior Advocate

Job Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Assist tribal member applicants to develop workforce skills while actively advocating on their behalf to build a comprehensive and successful tribal workforce. This includes strong communication and relationship-building to place tribal members both internally and with external businesses.

 

Primary Tasks

  • Advocate for Choctaw tribal members during the hiring process by utilizing strong communication skills to effectively present candidate qualifications and influence interview decisions based on established criteria and policies.2. Obtain and analyze interview feedback from multiple sources to provide constructive, actionable feedback to Choctaw applicants.3. Develop and maintain professional relationships with business owners and HR contacts in external businesses on the reservation to create employment opportunities and successfully place tribal members.4. Perform day-to-day operations of the Internship program, including coordination, oversight, and support to ensure positive experiences and career development for participants.5. Refer qualified candidates to appropriate programs to obtain and develop required skills and education needed for employment.6. Consult with Directors, Department Managers, Human Resources Managers, and Recruiters on the established Preference Policy to ensure understanding and adherence.7. Partner with Choctaw Nation Outreach and Education departments to develop or assist with programs/projects which provide Choctaw students opportunities to develop workforce skills.8. Promote and recruit for Internship program opportunities to qualified preferred candidates to increase participation and promote career growth.9. Prepare, analyze, and utilize system reports to identify departments with low Choctaw hires and/or high turnover and recommend changes to meet program goals.10. Represent the organization at job fairs and other recruitment events to promote job and internship opportunities to potential candidates.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Workforce Development, Public Administration, Social Work, Education, or a closely related field; or a minimum of five (5) years of equivalent progressive experience in workforce development, talent acquisition, or tribal employment services.• At least four (4) years of direct experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, employment advocacy, or workforce development, with a proven track record of successful candidate placements, stakeholder engagement, and meeting key performance indicators.• Demonstrated excellence in professional presentation, interpersonal, advocacy, persuasion, and high-level communication skills (oral and written) with the proven ability to influence hiring and interview decisions at all levels of management.• Proven experience developing and maintaining productive professional relationships with business owners, HR contacts, department managers, recruiters, and external stakeholders.• Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze interview feedback and workforce data/reports, and coordinate day-to-day internship program operations.• Working knowledge of employment laws, interview best practices, selection criteria, and tribal employment preference policies.
