Cook III – Recovery Center
Job Description
This is a regular, Full-Time position at the Men’s Recovery Center in Talihina | Schedule: 4 10-hour shifts (Wed, Thurs, Fri, and one weekend shift) | Pay: Paygrade 5, Hourly, Dependent upon cooking experience
This position oversees the full cooking process for a large group, including ordering supplies, preparing ingredients, and preparing meals.
Weekly earned wage access is an option for this position
Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Cook 3 is an advanced experienced level and is responsible for the preparation for patients in a high-volume setting.
Primary Tasks
- Prepare various ingredients to be cooked to include washing, chopping, slicing, and peeling of fruits and vegetables.
- Cook food to include baking, broiling, frying, steaming, braising, and boiling; provides meals that are properly cooked, tasty and visually appealing; tastes foods before serving and provides garnishes for food plates.
- Provide high quality, fresh food to guests using standardized recipes in accordance with the Oklahoma Diet Manuel.
- Control the level of waste by proper production levels and converted portion guidelines.
- Store and label prepared and open food following the Choctaw Nation food safety guidelines.
- Practice proper food storage and adheres to suitable food serving temperatures and documentation.
- Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment by practicing proper housekeeping procedure such as cleaning while working.
- Assist with set-up, service, and clean-up of food production.
- Rotate stock to ensure usage and disposal occurs before the expiration date.
- Maintain proper documentation/records in accordance with dietary guidelines
- Assist with training and cross training other employees.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Job Requirements
- Food Handlers Permit through Choctaw Nation
- Knowledge of the Oklahoma Diet Manuel
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to multiple tasks
- Ability to follow instructions both written and verbal
- Three years directly related experience
