Job Purpose or Objective(s): As the Biomedical Engineering Manager, you will provide medical equipment and technology management services to ensure highest level of functionality. You will report to the Biomedical Director.
Primary Tasks
- Respond to stat calls, to identify, and correct problems and return critical equipment/systems to service. 2. Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections on assigned equipment to include physical, functional, calibration, and electrical safety checks. 3. Perform incoming inspections of all medical equipment items entering the system including new, leased, loaned, rented, physician or patient owned. 4. Document operator induced equipment problems and follow up corrective activities on work order system. 5. Instruct individuals and groups of equipment users on proper and safe use of equipment on informal basis. 6. Schedule formal in-service training programs, coordinates and attends vendor training, and provides follow up training to team. 7. Identify customer needs and allocate resources as necessary to hospitals as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. 8. Serve as a technical advisor to the clinical staff for the safe operation and proper use of medical equipment. 9. Direct the Biomedical Department during regulatory inspections like The Joint Commission (TJC), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), College of American Pathologists (CAP) and any other applicable State regulatory agencies. 10. Facilitate budget planning, and ongoing management of department capital and operational budget. Monitors support cost including COSR (Cost of Service Ratio) to determine appropriate methods for managing equipment service contracts.
Job Requirements
- Associates Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Biomed Engineering
- Willing to attain Certifications in CBET, BLES, CRES
- Knowledge of accepted practices of Biomed Eng, med equip mgmt., clinical environment including the patient-equipment interface, care & use of test & calibration equipment
- 5 years’ experience troubleshooting biomed equipment
