Description

Objective: The Public Safety Transport Officer is responsible for the safe transport and monitoring of offenders to court appearances and medical appointments.

| Start Rate: $25.69 | Full-Time | Schedule: Mon-Friday | Shift: 8am-4:30pm |

Primary Tasks:

  • Transports individuals, documentation, or materials between various locations (i.e. moves prisoners or others between detention facilities, jails, courts, treatment facility, etc.) Maintains logs/records of transport activities. Performs physical searches and verifies the identity of persons in custody. Secures prisoner's personal property.

  • Monitors activities and behavior of prisoners during transport and/or while in custody. Maintains discipline of prisoners. May require verbal or physical means to restrain violent or combative prisoners.

  • Removes prisoners from holding areas in accordance with established security procedures and secures prisoners within appropriate areas at destinations.

  • Escorts/accompanies prisoners within facilities, in courtrooms or during meetings. Returns in-custody prisoners to other local holding facilities.

  • Assist bailiff's and judges in maintaining order of inmates in the custody of the courtrooms.

  • Prepares, maintains, reviews and/or processes various reports and documentation such as booking documents, transport logs, court minutes, prisoner housing billings, etc.

  • Provides prisoner care by ensuring cleanliness and safety of holding areas and transport van, ordering meals.

  • Perform CPR/first aid or obtaining medical assistance as needed for ill or injured prisoners.

  • Processes prisoners release from jail.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required At least of 21 years of age.

  • Must be medically fit and able to perform all the essential functions of a Security Officer and pass a physical fitness test.

  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.

  • Basic Computer skills to enable report writing, composition or correspondence, Internet, and email.

  • Ability to reason and react calmly and quickly in emergency and life-threatening situations.

  • Able to qualify yearly with department firearms

Target Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Completion of the law enforcement academy Able to pass a physical fitness test

  • Possess a valid driver's license

  • Basic computer skills to enable report writing, composition or correspondence Ability to use law enforcement communication, law enforcement software and equipment

  • Able to qualify yearly with department firearms
