Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Serves as the Lead Health Information Management Supervisor for Choctaw Nation Health Care by assisting the HIM Director in Managing efficient and compliant HIM Operations. Under the direction of the HIM Director the Lead HIM Supervisor will be based in an outlying clinic and will serve as the HIM Supervisor for that clinic as well as the HIM team lead for the remaining outlying clinics.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Assists the HIM Director with directing, planning, organizing, monitoring and evaluating of the HIM Departments to ensure effective and efficient operations and compliance with established standards, rules and regulations.

  2. Directs and supervises the activities of the HIM Department in a clinic.

  3. Compiles, completes, distributes and maintains required statistics, reports and registries.

  4. Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

  5. Under the direction of the HIM Director-plans, organizes, motivates, evaluates and coordinates the work processes and flows in the Clinic HIM Departments.

  6. Assists the HIM Director with the development, implementation and assessment of Performance Improvement and HIM projects and programs.

  7. Serves as a member of various committees and participates in hospital/clinic staff meetings as required.

  8. Develops training material for HIM processes to ensure consistency throughout the clinic HIM Departments

  9. Other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Associates degree in Health Care related field. RHIT

  • Working knowledge in Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy and ICD-10 CM

  • Demonstrates excellent organization, multi-tasking, and efficiency skills. Motivated and detail oriented.

  • Efficient time management- able to work independently

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, self-starter.

  • At least 3 years of experience managing staff performing HIM functions.

TARGET

  • Bachelor degree in Health Care related field. RHIA

  • Working knowledge in Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy and ICD-10 CM

  • Demonstrates excellent organization, multi-tasking, and efficiency skills. Motivated and detail oriented.

  • Efficient time management- able to work independently

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), and conflict resolution skills.

  • At least 5 years of experience managing staff performing HIM functions.
