Job Summary: Perform a variety of technical and skilled duties involved in maintaining landscape and grounds in accordance with established schedules and instructions.

The start rate for this position is $17.30 per hour. This is an hourly, full time position. This role will be responsible for the Northern Region of Choctaw Nation and daily travel will be involved. Must have at least a valid Driver's License to be considered.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Care for existing landscaping including flowers, ornamentals, minor tree care, mulch renewal, and replacement.

  2. Plant flowers for spring and fall color change outs and plant ornamentals as needed.

  3. Occasional placement and planting of new landscape areas.

  4. Test, adjust, and repair sprinkler systems on specific properties.

  5. Install new sprinkler systems.

  6. Monitor watering cycles of sprinkler systems.

  7. Apply chemical treatments of turf and bedding areas throughout the Choctaw Nation which include pre-emerge, post-emerge and fertilization.

  8. Perform regular maintenance, such as removing weeds, rake weeds and prune plants.

  9. Monitor the health of plants to ensure they are receiving enough water, sunlight and soil nutrients.

  10. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Knowledge of plant material and general horticultural practices such as planting and proper pruning

  • Working knowledge of various hand and motorized landscape tools.

  • Ability to read and follow written or oral directions for tasks.

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Understand and follow safety standards related to performance of the job.

  • Five (5) years' experience in the landscape industry.

TARGET

  • Associates degree in related field.

  • Valid driver's license with a CDL endorsement.

  • Current chemical applicators license.

  • Ability to submit recommendations for yearly landscape budget.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to organize and schedule daily activities.

  • Working knowledge of irrigation systems installation, operation, and repairs.

  • Five (5) years of landscape supervision experience.
