IT Support Specialist 2
Description
Job Purpose or Objective(s): The IT Support Specialist's role is to ensure proper computer operations so that end users can accomplish organizational tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostics and/or require that the individual give hands-on support at the desktop level.
Primary Tasks:
Utilize critical thinking skills, prioritize incoming work orders and efficiently assesses situations for appropriate response: seek clarification if work is not clear.
Implement IT principles, methods, and practices in the customer service and support area to identify and resolve issues and requests.
Identify and implement use of appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
Provides additional IT phone coverage on an as-needed or scheduled basis.
Document all pertinent end user identification information, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or request.
Diagnose and repair computer hardware, software, peripherals, mobile devices, and AV equipment.
Imaging, configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting new and replacement equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance which includes checking and cleaning printers, workstations, and peripherals.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM
High School Diploma or equivalent
Technical training inhelpdesksupport, support technician, orhelpdesk technician
Knowledge of basic computer hardware, including PC, servers, switches, and routers
Knowledgeofdesktop and server operating systems, including Windows 7/10, Server 2008/2012
Ability to absorb information quickly
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environment
One to two years related work experience is required
TARGET
Two-year degree in computer science, information systems orequivalentvocational certifications
Prior technical training in helpdesk support, support technician, orhelpdesk technician
Experience withbasic computer hardware, including PC, servers, switches, and routers
Experience with desktop and server operating systems, including Windows 7/10, Server 2008/2012
Ability to absorb information quickly
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environment
Two years related work experience
