Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 Annualy

Job Summary: The High School Student Services Education Information Specialist will work with parents, students, school administration and Choctaw Nation programs to meet the needs of Choctaw students in grades 9 th – 12th who reside within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation by providing educational information to promote college and career path beyond high school.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Acts as liaison between area schools, agencies, communities, Choctaw Nation agencies, and other referral organizations.

  2. Identify alerts (grades, attendance, etc.) concerning students and refer to appropriate agency and coordinate follow-up activities to ensure resolution of each.

  3. Organize and plan counseling sessions with seniors throughout the school year to inform students of scholarships within and outside of the Choctaw Nation.

  4. Complete required mail outs to include mailing parent permission forms and grade level information throughout the school year.

  5. Designs documents needed for the High School Student Services Program to keep all Choctaw parents and students in grades 9 th – 12 th informed of all programs provided for their current year in school and works with director to oversee that all documents needed are in place.

  6. Provide educational information to students and parents by attending parent teacher conferences, school visits, and college/career fairs and informs parents and students of scholarship opportunities.

  7. Plan and organize presentations to be given at various workshops and conferences to promote the High School Student Services Program.

  8. Prepare and proofread general correspondences, memos, letters to promote program and makes changes as appropriate.

  9. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • One year’s experience in Education or related field.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, multitasking ability, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently with moderate direction and communicate quickly and effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Knowledge and ability to work with appropriate hardware and software applications to include but not limited to: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Database skills and scanner knowledge.

  • Ability to travel regularly in the 10 ½ counties, occasional overnight travel and weekend work periodically.

TARGET

  • Master’s degree in education or related field.

  • Three years’ experience in Education or related field.

  • Professional interpersonal skills, multitasking ability, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction and communicate quickly and effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Expert knowledge and ability to work with appropriate hardware and software applications to include but not limited to: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Database skills and scanner knowledge.
