Superintendent - Jones Academy

Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Provide leadership and effective supervision of personnel to ensure the development and implementation of the mission, goals, and strategies of Jones Academy, promote Native American Culture, and provide enhanced academic achievement opportunities to students.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Lead strategic planning efforts to enhance academic achievement, curriculum, instruction, technology, student achievement, special services, and personnel in collaboration with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Oklahoma Area Education Office (OAEO), Oklahoma State Department Education, Eastern Oklahoma Tribal Schools (EOTS) and Hartshorne Public Schools.

  2. Design and implement educational programs with a commitment to academic excellence, character development, and high expectations for student success.

  3. Develop strategy to increase and retain student enrollment; Provide input to the development and implementation of student life and extra-curricular activities to enhance personal growth.

  4. Oversee budgets and staffing requirements, purchasing, expenditures, allocation of resources, construction projects, and renovations; Provide oversight to assure programs achieve stated goals and objectives.

  5. Oversee the implementation and enforcement of the home-living policies and procedures including: student/staff ratio, staff qualifications, staff trainings, staff background checks in collaboration with the BIE.

  6. Lead and supervise staff to ensure all policies are updated and procedures are followed; Collaborate with staff while handling difficult situations with students.

  7. Collaborate with EOTS, BIA, BIE, and CNO Tribal Police to ensure facility safety.

  8. Collect and analyze data and needs assessment findings; Prepare and submit reports due to all partners including the CNO to ensure that the mission, goals and objectives are being met.

  9. Perform others duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Master’s degree in School Administration or related education certification

  • Current Oklahoma Superintendent Certificate or ability to obtain one

  • Caring, motivated, hard-working individual that can supervise and lead by example

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

  • Advanced strategic decision making skills

  • Ability to multitask within time constraints and set high expectations on self and others

  • Ability to manage budget and personnel

  • Innovative with new educational opportunities for students

  • 5 years of leadership experience in school administration

TARGET

  • Master’s degree in Education Administration

  • Current Oklahoma Superintendent Certificate

  • Caring, motivated, hard-working individual that can supervise and lead by example

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

  • Advanced strategic decision making skills

  • 10 years of leadership experience in school administration
