Volunteer Coordinator (Cultural Center)

Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Oversee development and implementation of the volunteer program which will provide support and assistance with Cultural Center programs and events.

This position starts at $19.85 hourly.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Recruit, train, and manage all long-term and short-term volunteers; ensure all recruited volunteers complete paperwork, background checks, and training requirements.

  2. Manage volunteer shift schedules to ensure Cultural Center needs and priorities are addressed.

  3. Maintain a solid body of volunteers who are well versed in Choctaw history and culture, hospitable and able to meaningfully engage with visitors to the Choctaw Cultural Center.

  4. Develop and maintain a volunteer benefit and recognition program – this will include working with Cultural Center Associates to identify areas of need, upcoming events and general areas requiring support.

  5. Develop and maintain volunteer training manuals and provide information to keep volunteers informed about the Choctaw Cultural Center and their duties.

  6. Work with appropriate Cultural Center Associates to ensure volunteers are professionally trained in their area(s) of service.

  7. Track skills, performance, and training needs of volunteers.

  8. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, communications, or public relations.

  • Computer experience in Microsoft Office

  • Excellent written skills sufficient to produce sales communication

  • Ability to meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints

  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Ability to work with the public and community

  • One (1) year prior customer service experience

TARGET

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, communications, or public relations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent written skills sufficient to produce sales communication

  • Ability to meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints.

  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to interact and engage meaningfully with the public and community.

  • Two (2) or more year’s prior customer service experience
