Teacher's Aide - Early Head Start

Description

Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the classroom Teacher with the implementation of the educational program and providing overall support to the center. This person must maintain an effective working relationship with other staff, parents, and children, while following Head Start. Tribal, State and Federal Regulations

Primary Tasks:

  1. Assist in classroom and kitchen duties as necessary to provide breaks, lunches, planning etc.

  2. Interact with children consistently, positively, and appropriately during playground and classroom activities.

  3. Cleaning duties according to need and schedule set by supervisor, after children leave: including but not limited to: vacuum, sweep, mop, sanitize center, and restock soap, towel and toilet paper dispenser.

  4. Assist with preparation of activities and classroom setup.

  5. Participate in required trainings and tribal functions as needed.

  6. Prepare room prior to and after children rest and meal time.

  7. Count children during all transitions.

  8. Assist teacher with individual children and or small group activities.

  9. Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Must have knowledge and ability to work with appropriate software applications and communicate quickly and effectively both orally and in writing

  • Must have the ability to work with children, remain calm, patient and make sound decisions in case of emergency situations and difficult situations

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job that may include lifting up to 55 pounds, frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling

  • Experience working with children

TARGET

  • Child Development Associate (CDA)

  • Must have knowledge and ability to work with appropriate software applications and communicate quickly and effectively both orally and in writing

  • Must have the ability to work with children, remain calm, patient and make sound decisions in case of emergency situations and difficult situations

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job that may include lifting up to 55 pounds, frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling

  • Two (2) years or more experience working with children
