Senior Business Intelligence Analyst II


Job Purpose or Objective(s): The role of the Senior Business Analyst II is to design complex queries utilizing multiple data sources to derive business and process solutions to unique problems, discover insights and identify opportunities for the business to improve upon its processes using Common Table Expressions (CTEs), stored procedures, functions, and other tools. This role focuses on reviewing data sources to determine what is of value to the end users and the best way to leverage that knowledge.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Research source systems to determine necessary data to extract so that it is congruent and reliable.

  2. Generate summary views and specified dashboards which represent operational data in brief and intelligible format, suitable for the target audience, which includes executive leadership and department managers.

  3. Conduct analysis of findings and offer action-driven recommendations and insights to executive leaders and managers based on performance results.

  4. Carry out quality assessment of data, data reports and the accompanying decisions.

  5. Develop, implement, and optimize stored procedures and functions with T-SQL, in approved environments (Dev/Test).

  6. Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements.

  7. Perform data investigation on complex problems to find new data driven solutions or recommendations.

  8. Develop training and provide support for internal teams on all SQL coding questions.

  9. Other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics or computer science or related field

  • Excellent understanding of T-SQL

  • Demonstrable ability to quickly understand new concepts and to come out with original solutions to complex issues

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with database design

  • Knowledge of one or more business/functional areas

  • One (1) to three (3) years’ experience manipulating large datasets and using databases


  • Masters in mathematics, statistics or computer science

  • Master of complex T-SQL

  • Ability to come up with solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging new concepts

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, both verbal and written along with an understanding of how to present results such that they are meaningful across multiple levels of management

  • Strong related programming skills.

  • In-depth industry/business knowledge

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant SQL development with experience using machine learning algorithms
