Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Senior IT Project Manager has the end-to-end responsibility for the success of critical IT projects and programs that will evolve and transform the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s business processes, systems, and capabilities.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Define, orchestrate, and manage the holistic project life cycle, delivery cadence, and release plan. Work closely with project sponsor and stakeholders to define project scope and release plan.

  2. Collaborate with IT service teams to develop detailed work plans, including work breakdown structures, project milestones, risk assessment/management plans, staffing needs, project timelines, and budgets

  3. Manages activities of large project teams (which may include consultants or 3 rd party vendors), controlling the indirect management of resources and schedules to ensure timely completion. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion.

  4. Identify project risks and implement contingency plans. Identify and resolve issues and obstacles, escalating where necessary to the project sponsor, steering committee, or appropriate party.

  5. Manages communication plan for project status, issues, and risks; provides project performance metrics with a focus on status, budgets, and projections.

  6. Define project acceptance and success criteria. Disseminate to involved parties throughout project life cycle.

  7. Actively contribute to establishing and improving project management practices and delivery frameworks.

  8. Improve project team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, and motivating to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency, and boost morale.

  9. Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, relevant Business Degree or equivalent experience

  • Interest in obtaining Project Management accreditation

  • Project management skills, including schedule estimation, work task definition, and a very high level of organization

  • Experience in both traditional waterfall software development processes and Agile/Scrum methodologies

  • Above average written and verbal communications skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Visio, and Office suite

  • Minimum of seven years directly related experience in an IT project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution

TARGET

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, relevant Business Degree or equivalent experience

  • Certification in Project Management

  • Direct experience managing technology focused projects and a solid understanding of the technology components and concepts involved in enterprise-scale projects

  • Expert in both traditional waterfall software development processes and Agile/Scrum methodologies

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Expert with Microsoft Project, Visio, and Office suite

  • Familiarity with data centers, network design and equipment installation such as server racking.

  • Minimum of ten years directly related experience in an IT project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
