Information System Engineer 2

Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Administers compute and storage systems and recommends improvements necessary to ensure operation of Choctaw Nation systems.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Performs moderately complex tasks pertaining to enterprise storage environments, including enterprise storage arrays, fiber channel switches and Network Attached Storage (NAS)

  2. Performs moderately complex tasks pertaining to enterprise compute environments, including virtualization hardware, physical servers, and hosted systems

  3. Assists and leads the tasks of assuring reliable and stable data storage management, security, backup, restoration, archiving and replication

  4. Assures systems performance and stability

  5. Assures systems security

  6. Design, administer, and optimize server OS, including Windows Server 2008, 2012 , and Redhat Linux

  7. Responsible for configuring and maintaining Windows Active Directory environments

  8. Maintains and configures enterprise wide VMware environments

  9. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve issues in a timely manner

  10. Analyze situational data to resolve issues or follow escalation chain

  11. Coordinate maintenance schedule and notifications with internal IT teams

  12. Other duties as assigned

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or professional IT certification.

  • Superb spoken and written communications skills

  • Effective customer service skills

  • Ability to perform complex tasks using independent judgment and critical thinking

  • Experience managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting system infrastructure based on best practices

  • Working knowledge of server operating systems, active directory, and VMware.

  • Must be comfortable working in an accountable and deadline-oriented environment and maintain flexible working hours

  • 3 years’ experience supporting critical IT infrastructure

TARGET

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, professional IT certification (MCSA, VCP…).

  • Superb spoken and written communications skills

  • Effective customer service skills

  • Ability to perform complex tasks using independent judgment and critical thinking

  • Proven experience managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting system infrastructure based on best practices

  • Server operating system and active directory troubleshooting experience

  • Must be comfortable working in an accountable and deadline-oriented environment and maintain flexible working hours

  • 5 years’ experience supporting system infrastructure
