Finance- Governmental Accounting Intern

Our summer intern program is an 8-week temporary, paid program that runs from the end of May through the end of July in 2022.

Pay Rate: $15.00/hr.

Job Summary: The Finance Internship role offers students, currently pursuing an Accounting or Finance degree, the opportunity to supplement coursework with meaningful, practical experience. Intern assignments may focus in, but not limited to, one of the following areas: General Accounting, Finance, Purchasing, Budget Forecast and Management, Cash Management, Payroll Processing, Fixed Assets Management, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. The Internship Program goal is to provide you with a path for your development and growth in your accounting or finance career.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Input/process general ledger journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.

  2. Archive accounting documents: such as, general ledger journal entries, invoices and bank reconciliations.

  3. Process invoices for payment and reviews and/or payment requests.

  4. Prepares summaries, reports, charts, and/or graphs.

  5. Research and resolve moderately difficult issues

  6. Perform other duties as may be assigned

Required Education, Skills and Experience

MINIMUM

  • Active student with major in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related undergraduate degree program with career aspirations in Accounting or Finance.

  • Choctaw CDIB or Choctaw member status.

  • In process of completing first semester of Sophomore-level up to second semester Senior-level standing in degree requirements.

  • Must be currently attending an accredited college, university, or postsecondary educational institution.

  • Must be available to work 40 hour per week eight consecutive weeks.

  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5; 3.0 GPA or greater preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written on a technical level. 

  • Ability to lift 20lb or more

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently or in a group and manage priorities

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Target

  • High school Diploma or GED

  • Ability to apply basic math (arithmetic, ratios, proportions or conversions)

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Proficient use of Ten Key (by touch)

  • Understanding of accounting principles

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Word and Excel
