Executive Communication Manager

Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Create, manage and assist with the overall Choctaw Nation Executive communication strategy and delivery as part of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) Marketing & Communication Department. Facilitate the delivery of efficient and effective communication on behalf of the Chief and Assistant Chief, and senior executives, to tribal members, CNO associates, Choctaw Nation communities, visitors and key stakeholders.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Develops and implements strategies and programs to communicate messaging to the broader CNO associate base, tribal members, other CDIB card holders, and the general public.

  2. Partners with executive management, Public Relations, Legal, Government Relations, Human Resources, Communications, Marketing and other departments to plan, develop, implement and evaluate Executive communications.

  3. Serves as an extension and liaison of the communications department with the Office of the Chief and Assistant Chief. Ensures compliance with overall communications department guidelines and direction.

  4. Translate important, complex topical areas into understandable content for end users, work groups, leadership and the Marketing & Communications department.

  5. Researches important topics and conducts content development for key stakeholder audiences.

  6. Participates in setting standards, guidelines for style and content for Executive communication.

  7. Evaluates fit with target audience to ensure comprehension; Internal and external to CNO; Implements metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communication plan delivery.

  8. Collaborate with CNO and Marketing & Communications leadership to clarify outcomes for projects and activities to ensure clear and effective communication with target audience.

  9. Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Bachelors degree in PR, Journalism, Communication or related field.

  • 7 years working in Communication, preferably in health-related environments

  • Developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate at a senior level

  • Familiar with project management and implementation processes

  • Familiar with PROSCI Change Management practices

  • Certification with PRSA or IABC preferred

  • Communications software skills -- proficient

  • 7 years of overall communication experience; 4 years at a senior level

TARGET

  • Graduate degree in PR, Journalism, Communications or related field.

  • 10 years working in Communications or health-related environments; PR or internal communications background preferred

  • Advanced interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate at a senior level

  • Advanced knowledge of project management practices

  • Certified in PROSCI Change Management

  • Certification with PRSA or IABC preferred

  • Communications software skills - advanced

  • 10 years of overall communication experience; 5 years at a senior level
