Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to arrange transport of the patient to a medical facility.

Start Rate: 1st Shift $16.00, 2nd Shift $16.25, 3rd Shift $16.50

Primary Tasks:

  1. Assess patients’ vital and diagnostic signs; triage as necessary when dealing with multiple patients.

  2. Bandage wounds, splint fractures and breaks, and control hemorrhages.

  3. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

  4. Use automated external defibrillator (AED) to determine if patient has an adequate heart rhythm and provide a jolt as necessary to reestablish a normal heart rhythm.

  5. Assist patients with taking prescribed medications, such as sublingual nitroglycerin, auto epinephrine injector and hand held aerosol inhalers.

  6. Administer oral glucose, aspirin, and/or agency-supplied epinephrine auto inject and Albuterol per protocol of medical director.

  7. Perform other emergency medical care procedures as appropriate for the EMT level of training and CNO policies and which are not specifically listed above.

  8. Other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • High school diploma or GED

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Certification by the State of Oklahoma as a EMT/EMT-B or higher

  • National Registry Certification

  • Current CPR certification

  • Professional appearance of the approved uniform and maintain hygienic and grooming standards

  • Ability to perform assigned duties, including the ability to repeatedly lift and move heavy patients

TARGET

  • High school diploma or GED

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Advanced EMT Certification by the State of Oklahoma

  • National Registry Certification

  • Maintain CPR certification

  • Professional appearance of the approved uniform and maintain hygienic and grooming standards

  • Ability to perform assigned duties, including the ability to repeatedly lift and move heavy patients
