Drug and Alcohol Technician

Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Administers drug/alcohol screening in the field and office, coordinates the human resource activities to maximize the strategic use of associates, and provides responsive, dependable, and consistent service while carrying out various human resource agendas.

This position starts at $17/hourly.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Administer drug and alcohol screenings for pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, follow-up and any other screens as specified.

  2. Perform DNA Collections, including collecting the DNA samples, performing basic data entry tasks, getting samples ready for additional laboratory testing and processing, and preparing the samples for transport to the testing facility.

  3. Travel to various sites, which necessitates driving; perform emergency services of an on-call nature for reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing.

  4. Complete testing forms with accuracy.

  5. Respond to requests for information from management, outside agencies and the public.

  6. Make schedules for pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, follow-up, return-to-duty drug and alcohol screens. Maintains appointments as scheduled.

  7. Provide information to associates relating to DACS policies, procedures, and processes, etc.

  8. Notify appropriate authority upon receiving a pending drug screen from an associate.

  9. Prepare paperwork, enter data, and scan into the system.

  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Must have and retain valid driver’s license.

  • Dependability, consistently at work and on time.

  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel and Microsoft Word software.

  • Knowledge of office administration procedures. Ability to operate most standard office equipment.

  • Prior experience with a Jupiter Alcohol machine preferred.

  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to be on call 24 hours per day 7 days per week during assigned rotation

  • One (1) year prior experience preferred

TARGET

  • Associate degree

  • DOT/Alcohol Screening Certification

  • Must have and retain valid driver’s license.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

  • Extensive knowledge of computer software (Windows 95, 98, XP and Microsoft Office), computer hardware and computer servers.

  • Perform paraprofessional personnel work with limited supervision and general direction.

  • Prior experience with a Jupiter Alcohol machine.

  • Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.

  • Ability to be on call 24 hours per day 7 days per week during assigned rotation

  • Two (2) years previous medical experience as a lab tech or equivalent
