Director of IT Project Management

Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Director of Project Management is responsible for defining, planning, tracking, and managing projects for continued growth and organizational objectives. This position is responsible for leading a team of project management professionals as they lead cross-functional projects that meet strategic goals. The core focus of this position is organizing people, resources, and overseeing projects from inception to completion.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Direct, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers.

  2. Develop and implement standardized project management processes, tools, metrics, and policies.

  3. Develop a robust and flexible set of project management methodologies that are applied consistently throughout the organization.

  4. Ensure project management standards can be widely adopted and delivered through training, work procedures, quality objectives, best practices, lessons learned, and metrics for assessing progress.

  5. Assess the project delivery capabilities of the organization and create/conduct standardized project management related training and communication as necessary.

  6. Manage team to ensure integration of projects and adjust project scope, timing, and budgets as needed, based on the needs of the organization.

  7. Responsible for delivering all projects contained in the project portfolio on time, within budget and meeting the strategic and business requirements.

  8. Collaborate with leadership to ensure successful delivery of projects consistent with strategic plans. 

  9. Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field

  • Project Management Professional certification

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite and project management software

  • Strong project planning, organizing, communication, team motivation and delegation skills

  • Proven record of the successful management of complex, multifunctional projects/programs.

  • ITIL foundations training

  • 7 years’ experience in project management

TARGET

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field

  • Project Management Professional certification and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Change Management Certification

  • Expert with Microsoft Suite and project management software

  • Expert project planning, organizing, communication, team motivation and delegation skills

  • Proven record of the successful management of multiple concurrent projects/programs

  • ITIL foundations certification

  • 10 years’ experience in project management
