Director of Catering and Convention Services

Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Promote and continue to establish Choctaw Casinos as a major upscale brand in order to maximize profitability and ensure outstanding quality service for the guests.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Deliver short and long term planning and day-to-day operations leadership and direction to Conference Center staff.

  2. Direct and manage setup and audio visual from the time a contract becomes definite to execution ensuring all service standards are followed.

  3. Assign event bookings, group resumes, and event folders to appropriate personnel and ensure events are distributed accurately and efficiently.

  4. Ensure meeting and function rooms are properly maintained at all times.

  5. Establish positive working relationship with all locations, departments, staff and vendors to ensure well executed events.

  6. Work closely with the Director of Sales to develop annual business plans for the department.

  7. Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required.

  8. Plan and develop strategic services that drive continuous improvement and enhance brand vision.

  9. Ensure standards/policies are continually followed by associates.

  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or other similar industry.

  • Excellent oral and written communication techniques.

  • Understand P&L statement and how his/her actions impact the overall profitability of the department and property.

  • Strong computer skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession.

  • Effective management, leadership, organizational and communication skills.

  • Five (5) years of management experience in a hotel or gaming industry.

TARGET

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or other similar industry.

  • Excellent oral and written communication techniques.

  • Understand P&L statement and how his/her actions impact the overall profitability of the department and property.

  • Strong computer skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession.

  • Strong background in forecasting as well as new business development and business relations.

  • Ten (10) years as Director of Catering Conference Services in a volume 400 room hotel, conference center, or high volume banquet/catering facility with at least 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
