Data Scientist - Business Intelligence (Durant)
Job Purpose or Objective(s) : The role of the Data Scientist is to model complex problems, discover insights and identify opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. This role focuses on delivering insight from data that is actionable and will drive revenue growth, cost reduction, and meet new regulatory requirements.
Provide data that is congruent and reliable.
Sift through all incoming data with the goal of discovering previously hidden insights, which in turn, can provide a competitive advantage or address a pressing business problem.
Provide diagnostic, descriptive, prescriptive, and predictive analytics.
Design experiments, test hypothesis, develop conceptual designs, and build models to address requirements.
Conduct advanced data analysis and highly complex designs algorithm.
Identify and analyze new data analytic directions and their potential business impact to determine the proper prioritization of data analytics activities based on business needs and analytics ROI.
Identify data that is available and relevant, including internal and external data sources, leveraging new data collection processes.
Present findings to the business by exposing their assumptions and validation work in a way that can be easily understood by their business counterparts.
Develop detailed source-to-target data mapping and data transformation rules

Required Education, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics or computer science or related field.
Familiarity with basic principles of distributed computing and/or distributed databases.
Demonstrable ability to quickly understand new concepts-all the way down to the theorems- and to come out with original solutions to mathematical issues.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools
Knowledge of one or more business/functional areas
One (1) to three (3) years’ experience manipulating large datasets and using databases, and one (1) to three (3 years’ experience with a general-purpose programming language
Masters in mathematics, statistics or computer science
Solid knowledge of statistical techniques and use of statistical packages
Ability to come up with solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging pattern detection over potentially large datasets
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, both verbal and written along with an understanding of how to present results such that they are meaningful across multiple levels of management
Strong related programming skills.
In-depth industry/business knowledge
Five (5) or more years of relevant quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience with experience using machine learning algorithms
