Description

Average Pay: $14/hr

Job Summary: A banquet server is responsible for preparing the tables and banquet area before guests arrive , effectively serving a number of different dishes and courses to guests during a meal, and clearing the tables and banquet area after the guests depart.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Provide assistance to banquet managers in the serving of guests during banquet functions.

  2. Serve the beverage and food in the appropriate order and in tune with the expectation of the supervisor so as to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.

  3. Greet and welcome guests and respond to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner.

  4. Set up banquet room as requested by the supervisor to include glassware, service ware, and linens.

  5. Perform side work helping to provide a safe and clean work environment.

  6. Remove dishes as guests finish each meal at the end of each meal or function.

  7. Clean, organize and restock equipment/product returning from catering events.

  8. Understand safety responsibilities as well as environmental laws by following established procedures, policies, training and involvement activities.

  9. Abide by all state, county laws and Choctaw policies pertaining to the serving alcoholic beverages, policies on safe food handling while adhering to safety and health standards at all times.

  10. Perform other duties that may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • ABLE Certification- 18 years old to serve, 21 years old to bartend.

  • Must be able to respond to simple complaints or inquiries from guests, members of the business community, and/or regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation and product inventory.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

  • Strong team work skills are required to allow for overall success and enjoyment of the guest.

  • Must have a positive upbeat attitude and respond politely to guest requests and anticipate their needs

  • Must have basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, food and beverage preparations as well as etiquette.

  • Prior banquet experience preferred.

TARGET

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.

  • Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation and product inventory.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

  • Two (two) to three (3) years of banquet service or external catering experience
