Job Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s) The CT Technologist Certified is responsible for performing computerized tomography (CT) scans and specialized procedures to generate diagnostic imaging results. You will support accurate diagnosis and patient care through the delivery of reliable imaging information.

PG12 – Full Time | Durant Regional Medical Clinic | Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm |

Primary Tasks

  • Perform computerized tomography scans and specialized procedures using appropriate techniques, protocol, measurements, windows, and special functions to obtain quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate care and treatment for all patient populations during CT procedures.
  • Perform screening procedures related to exam history and the injection of contrast media; provide pertinent information to Radiologist.
  • Prepare patients for CT procedures by starting intravenous lines; review relevant laboratory results; monitor intravenous contrast injections; review potential adverse effects related to ionizing radiation and contrast material.
  • Discuss CT procedures with patients and obtain required patient signatures and documentation as needed.
  • Observe the patients’ condition while in the CT department; recognize emergency patient conditions, initiate appropriate care, and contact appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Use universal precautions and provide radiation protection in accordance with standards established by state and federal boards.
  • Perform post processing of images; electronically send images to appropriate destinations including PACS; perform routine quality control checks; report equipment issues to vendors or internal points of contact; maintain cleanliness of the CT department and equipment.
  • Make appropriate technical or patient‑related decisions within the scope of ability and notify appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in health or business-related field
  • Graduate of an ARRT approved School of Radiologic Technology – Radiography
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with a Post Primary certification in Computed Tomography within 12 months of employment.
  • Working knowledge of multi-planar,
  • 3-D rendering and image reconstruction
  • One [1] year direct clinical experience in scanning protocols and procedures under the direct supervision of a Certified CT Technologist.
