General Manager-Clayton Country Market

Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Plan, develop, and implement financial, marketing and operational strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability for the Choctaw Country Store. Ensure all products and displays are merchandised effectively in order to maximize sales and profitability.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Prepare and execute annual plan, including operating, cash and capital budgets in order to achieve bottom line profitability and sales growth.

  2. Collaborate with the Choctaw Nation financial analysis staff to conduct monthly analysis of store performance, address issues, and develop and execute plans.

  3. Monitor daily sales volumes and activity and develop actions to address issues.

  4. Oversee operations and determine product mix and placement.

  5. Manage the store facility and maintain appearance, cleanliness, safety as well as ensure that systems are functioning and reliable.

  6. Control store inventory, fixed assets, and oversee marketing and advertising.

  7. Develop and maintain a staffing structure to assure an outstanding customer experience and proper control of inventory.

  8. Hire, train, supervise and evaluate store staff.

  9. Build and maintain relationships with wholesale distributors, local producers and with other organizations within the food industry.

  10. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Associate’s degree in business or related field

  • Experience establishing and managing operating budgets, including profit/loss management, purchasing and management controls

  • Demonstrated ability to articulate a vision and build, motivate and lead a cohesive team aligned to deliver operational excellence and superior customer service

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make timely and effective decisions

  • Familiarity with natural food co-op operations, sustainable and healthy food production

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suit – Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

  • Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.

  • High level of personal integrity.

  • Three (3) or more years of management experience, including recruiting, training, evaluating

  • Two (2) or more years of prior experience as a general manager or store manager in retail grocery

TARGET

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field

  • Experience establishing and managing operating budgets, including profit/loss management, purchasing and management controls

  • Familiarity with natural food co-op operations, sustainable and healthy food production

  • Prior experience in marketing and merchandising in highly competitive markets

  • Highly effective written, oral and electronic communications; comfort with and effective use of contemporary communications, social media and other technologies.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suit – Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

  • Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.

  • High level of personal integrity

  • Three (3) or more years of management experience, including recruiting, hiring, training, directing, evaluating, compensating and releasing employees

  • Five (5) or more years of prior experience as a general manager or store manager in retail grocery
